Sarah Palin lookalikes from all corners of New York gathered the Medusa Hair Salon on October 18th 2008 to raise big bucks and HAIR for the Obama campaign.

The Sarah Palin UpDo was the hot ticket, and after outfitting over 30 women with the VP twist, the ladies of Medusa Salon raised nearly $1,700 in just under three hours!!!

Throughout the evening Palin lookalikes were entertained by the musical stylings of Medusa's own Jessica Rose and her band, Jessica Rose and the High Life as well as the ladies of "Submerged: Tales from the Basin" a literary anthology dedicated to women and their experiences with hair. After all Palin candidates were fully coifed, the lookalike contest began. A close race between Lori Ungemah, of Park Slope, and Yvonne Gumowitz, of Westchester, had spectators pulling out their updos. Lori came packin' Thunder (presumably
Palin's yet-to-be-born 6th child), a flute, a set of binoculars, a map of Russia, a gun, and a bible which led us in prayer throughout the event. Yvonne came with her striking resemblance to Miss Alaska and her pageant winning smile.
So eery was the resemblance that a group of rowdy teens came bursting through the door proclaiming their love for Obama to Gumowitz before they generously handed her a plastic moose. A tight security detail was on deck to protect the Palins and keep the crowd in order. After a grueling town hall debate ended in a tie, Ungemah and Gumowitz settled the debate in the only truly democratic fashion:
Rock.
Paper.
Scissors.
Ungemah took home a prize valued at over $200, however Gumowitz did not leave empty handed...proving that no Palin is ever a loser! You Betcha!
